Cascade 128 yarn Review

Today I have dedicated myself to trying to get my 50" x 50" throw 1/2 done...right now I am 1/3 done.  I did have a few rows done (10) when I started this morning and I now have 63 done this is with 150 sts per row.  Soon as this throw is done it will be going into testing.  I was lucky enough to receive yarn support from Cascade yarns!

I got the Cascade 128 superwash yarn in color number 804.  This Yarn is butter soft and fluffy and wonderful to knit with. This is a bulky yarn so my throw blanket is moving along quickly which is making me very very happy! I think this yarn would make a wonderful scarf, hat set or a nice chunky cowl would be great!  I love the fact that this being superwash means it can take the wear from being a throw blanket and it will still look great!  All in all I have to say this is amazing yarn!

Very productive day today

Today I typed up 3 patterns did 2 charts and I am so happy I got everything done!  I also finished the blanket for my tuffet set and I can now give you a preview of the set.

The picture is of my samples which are the smallest tuffet, smallest throw 34" x 34" and the two pillows.  The pattern for this set will be available in about 15 days or so.  I forgot to take pictures of the yarn I got in the mail yesterday but I will make sure to get the pictures up tomorrow with a review of it!

I was lazy today!

Today for the most part I got nothing done that I planned to get done, instead I have been working on one of my Celtic knot throw blankets.  It is based on the Celtic trinity knot filet crochet pattern that you can see on our second page.  I had a wonderful idea for a woven cable border but that didn't work so now I am going to use seed stitch, and even though I have the chart for the filet crochet I need to rechart it so that it is double the size!  I have been working on the chart since 12pm and it is now 5pm but I am not even close to done since I changed the border once I started working on it.  I will post some pictures tomorrow of the wonderful yarn that came from Cascade tomorrow and do a review of it as well.  Well I am off to work on my chart because I can't knit this till it is charted.

Lion Brand Collection wool Stainless Steel review!

Hi today I wanted to talk about Lion Brand Collection’s Wool Stainless Steel Yarn.  This yarn is 75% wool and 25% stainless steel!  It is very very thin I would say a light lace weight.  The Steel gives it a very very neat shine to it and it also gives it some rigidity that normal wool yarns don’t have.  This yarn is only available on their web site or from their store but you do get 273 yards in the cone.   I was lucky enough to get this yarn as yarn support for a pattern I am developing for submission to a magazine so I can’t really talk about what I am making with it.  I will say I love working with this unique yarn and I wish it was more readily available so everyone could try it!  I would also love to see it in a thicker size say sock weight.  It is amazing to me that someone sat down and said “hey let’s try adding stainless steel to some wool and see how the yarn comes out”  Over all I give this yarn a 10 out of 10 because it is the only brand that has anything like this.  My question to you is:  Have you seen this yarn?  Have you used this yarn?  What did you make?

If you are interested in this yarn go to: http://lbcollection.lionbrand.com/lbc/lbCollectionStainlessSteelWool.html  You can even order the yarn there!

The Saga of the felted foot stool

I have finished knitting the Foot Stool!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is a picture of it before felting!
It has been felted and it is still drying (has been for over 8 hours already)  I tried putting it in the dryer but after 40 mins it was still wet, I then put it out side and after 7+ hours it is still damp.  I am sewing it now while it is damp and then it is going back into the dryer.  Once it is done I will take pictures and post them here!  I am so happy to have this done.

Today I also typed up and put into testing my newest design

Called Dragon Skin Cowl if you are interested in test knitting this and you are on Ravelry please join us on http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/knits-4-u-designs/1382736/1-25#3 that thread and then pm me telling me you are interested in testing it!

Well now I am off to work on sewing the bottom of the foot stool on and the zipper then I will be working on my blanket design that goes with the tuffet pattern I have in testing.

Good Morning!

Happy Sunday everyone.  I wanted to updated you on the foot stool!  I now have 200 yards of yarn to go!  I should have it done tonight and then Monday I will take a picture before felting and after so you can see the differences and then I will sew it up and stuff it and take another picture and then box it up and send it to knit picks.  My plan is it will be in Tuesdays mail.  I will let you know how I did tonight before I go to bed with a new post!  Have a great day and I am off to work on the foot stool.
